Hey @biophiliac check out how mean the Australian government is. They don't want our disease ridden visitors there. I wish there was a way to save the poor thing and bring it home.

Speaking of a gossip of hens, there is some serious intrigue going on at the Palace today.
This morning I went to open up as usual and as I approached the Palace there was an unbelievable ruckus going on. Lots of shouting and bawking.
I opened the door to the run and normally I face a stampede of running and flying chickens who charge at my legs and sometimes at my head in their eagerness to great the day and check if I brought treats.
This morning nobody.
The two road runners were on the roost near the door peering over anxiously to the other side of the coop and they did eventually scuttle out as if glad to escape whatever was going on inside.
In the far corner the 3 ladies were all together up on two roosts at 90 degrees so they were all beak to beak in the corner just yelling at each other. They didn't even look up when I came in.
Eventually they quieted down and shuffled off out.
What on earth were they so upset about? Seemed to be more upset at each other than me. Like the good servant I am, I was clearly peripheral to the main drama.
I have no idea what was going on - the only thing I noticed is that someone (I have no idea who) had just let fly the most eye-wateringly pongy poo you can imagine. Seriously gas-mask worthy.
Was this all recrimination about stinking up the Palace:

"Why can't you be more lady-like and drop those bombs outside?"

"When you gotta go you gotta go"

"It's not my fault it is that red cabbage - you both painted the floor fluorescent green so I don't see how you can be all high and mighty with me now"

And so on.
The discussion is continuing outside and I have discretely withdrawn to fresher air!

(Tried to warn ya, about the red cabbage.) I hope the rest of your day isn't so

Look who went and pulled out the dictionary on us. How many days discussion and you are the first to pull it out. Kudos to you Kris.

But, I just did the lazy google dictionary, and didn’t even sort through for a “proper” one at that... I don’t mind most dictionaries, and usually just grab for the Collins from my high school days when I have a bookshelf for it. But DH is a fan of the long Oxford, and we have a few older editions in storage that can have some fun definitions. We are both a little fascinated by language and it’s evolution, especially slang. I also have a deep love for proper encyclopedias, and have yet to forgive my father and siblings for not letting me take my grandfathers old Brittanica Collection after he passed on (yep, I’m a nerd!).

You’re mistaken... those there are the rare and elusive fresh water chicken, not to be confused with the marine chickens @featherhead007 has occasionally shared. Speaking of taxes, I should try to get uploading!

Although I understand the need for quarantine, and the extreme cost associated with returning the bird to its home country, especially amid all the Covid travel bans and restrictions, it really is too bad.
