Yes. Mine do that. They wander around throwing leaves over their back. Silly chickens.Interesting bit to report - yesterday when Peanut was done laying her egg and flew down from the coop she came over near me and picked up some old leaf bit and threw it onto her back! Then she did it again with another bit of something! I've read about this if I remember right - isn't that ancient nest-building? [Edit - I mean coded-in behavior...Peanut was still feeling the egg-laying drive]
Aurora does that after she has laid. She will walk around putting stuff on her back. This fall she walked over to me and started putting leaves on her back. I just assume she doesn't know what she is doing. Aurora does not like an actual nest. She tears them apart.Interesting bit to report - yesterday when Peanut was done laying her egg and flew down from the coop she came over near me and picked up some old leaf bit and threw it onto her back! It is so hard to see them alone. It just feels wrong.I think you are right. I will keep an eye but worry less.
I'm so glad they had fun with the sled. It was so great to see you and Richard again. Thanks for getting me out of the house. You should have told us about Mason's birthday. Please wish him happy birthday from us. He's a good kid.Today was a busy day! Rich found some sleds for the kids at the local home improvement store. The kids were outside at 9:30am sledding and having a ball!

@BY Bob also found a sled and snowboard offered then to us. We met at a lovely coffee shop owned by his friends. I sadly didn't get any pictures of them using the new sled, but they had a blast. They were out for about 5 hours all total today.
Mason's birthday is on the 15th, but we won't see him for his birthday, so we celebrated tonight.

Yes, the ladies did enjoy their snack. In fact they each calmly took a piece when I called their names. Everyone was well behaved except Sydney who was willing to take anyone's egg that touched the ground. It was great seeing you guys again! Did the girls enjoy their egg snack?
I'll tell Mason you wished him Happy Birthday. It's so early i actually forgot about it until this afternoon!
