New forecast is snow and not quite as cold - down to 12°F so still double digits - so I will not risk killing the Princesses with more than 2 days of corn. :lau
They have moved the coldest weather from Sunday night to Monday and moderated it to 16°F. I am definitely feeling better about that. Slow continuous snow for the next 3 days, 3-6 inches. Then snow on Sunday and Snow on Tuesday.

I created it by using the spoiler bracket codes. Is there an actual button for that somewhere? None of the editing menu works on my phone since the new format. I’d use the app, but don’t remember my password and don’t want to reset it since my browser remembers it. LOL Pathetic, I know.
You can look it up in your browser then - likely you can manage all your passwords there.

Yup. I think my weather forecast is basically "snow until further notice punctuated by periodic bone-chilling cold"

I don't believe that there was any twist to Daisy's, the greatest hen ever, beak. Can you explain what you see? I can't believe I would have missed that.
IT WAS AN ILLUSION! So sorry. The littke strip of brown grass or whatever looked like the edge of her beak. LOL.

Can you attach a picture of that setup? I'd love to see it!
Sure! Here you go! I used cement glue between the blocks.

So the tiny terrors are showing signs they want to roost. Thinking of how much fun they would have I went out and got one of the big sticks we use for fetch with the dogs. Put it in their cage and do they appreciate it. Nope, terrified of it. For the past 30 minutes been huddled up in their sawdust bowl alternating between giving the stick dirty looks and myself dirty looks. Also I think these guys are broken, their parents love me, friendliest chickens ever. The terrors, have no use for me, can't even get them to hop in my hand if I put their food in it. Its Karen's influence I swear.

Oh boy. I have read conflicting views on Vaseline and frostbite and no peer reviewed or even veterinarian articles.
I am wondering what to do. I could bring them in to the garage although navigating the snow mountain with a chicken in each arm feels a bit perilous. I could put in a space heater for the night - I am not too worried about humidity as it is very dry and there is oodles of ventilation - but I don't think it will make much difference unless they are right under it and I don't think that would be safe - I would only dare set it up in the servant's quarters where there is a real floor.
I can see myself spending the night ferrying hot-water bottles out to the Palace, or microwaving little hats to keep their combs warm.
On the other hand there is a guy here who had temperatures of -30 and his were doing just fine without heat.
Hmmm.
I use olive oil on my girls wattles ears, legs and feet. They love their feet being rubbed :). I also add a hot pad covered and put it beneath their bedding.
