A lovely sunset

And happy chickens eating pasta bits, I was happy to share my snack with them since they came to the front yard to say hi :)

Hmmm. That is a puzzle. I do think you need more than one day of real camera observation to be sure. The reason I am not convinced is that video where she didn't eat even when she had Aurora-free access.
But assuming you are right, can it really be all about the time you lifted her up when she didn't want that? Is there anything else about you (you went back to your usual clothing right?).
I am thinking bribery is the answer. You already made progress as she took a piece of nut from your hand. I know the weather isn't exactly conducive, but just 'being there' may help too.
Probably not very helpful, but its all I got.
It is helpful. I have blueberries for tomorrow. That will be a good test. More observation tomorrow.

Well if this behavior holds as @RoyalChick advises - keeping watch with the camera -and she keeps eating but only when you're not around - then at least it's probably not medical, which is a great relief, and maybe some consolation.

I agree continue with the bribes. Did you get a haircut, or have a different hat on? Could oncoming broodiness cause this behavior? You being the Big Coop Rooster and all...
She is showing no signs of broodiness. I did get a haircut but I'm back to the same hat and sweatshirt I have always worn. I swear it feels like she's mad that I picked her up. I need to get past that and make certain there is nothing wrong with her.

It seems as though she's being safe with herself. If you handle her again, her distrust may deepen. Another video observation will help.

I also think it's cold enough for her to behave differently.

I love that picture, is she a speckled sussex? Before I settled on my Marans they were a strong consideration and I still admire them from afar. Maybe in a few years may get 1.
Yes, she sure is. She is an absolute sweetheart. However, after going VERY broody, she wanted to harm the chicks I got her. LOL.

Mr Sun has Arrived!

It snowed hard last night, all day off and on, and is supposed to keep up until 1 tomorrow. We need it! Interesting, we aren't getting a lot. A lot of small flurries off and on. I had ordered some Nn eggs that were to be shipped today from New Mexico. He said he isn't going to ship due to extreme weather conditions. It's been staying in the teens, and they got 10 inches of snow! New Mexico! What's going on?

I have too many eggs! I read Buckeyes would lay 3-5 eggs per week. Everyone, except one, are laying almost every day! I am getting 3-5 eggs per day, usually 4 eggs. I would rather they have longer lives than be the egg machines so many people want. I am giving them away to BIL which is fine, and making egg-heavy recipes: Cream Puffs, savory and sweet. 1-2-3-4 type cakes. Challah. Egg Foo Young, Fried Rice. Hard-bolied eggs (yummy!). I should try Mayonaise next. I still can't keep up. :p
Ooo.. recipe for egg foo young??
