Ned is actually a cross-bred. He's half barred rock and half Rhode Island Red... :oops:
In my world he is simply Ned. Very handsome (and very tall) and hopefully as much of a gentleman as his Dad Stanley

Not totally. I am more observant than I was - like I notice body type, and comb and even leg color. But I am realizing that most of the 'breeds' are made-up constructs, mainly in the 19th Century and some older.

Oh and that reminds me. My soulmate was a Plymouth Rock, I thought that was the same as a barred rock. I think your research suggests they are different. Did I understand that right? Do I know a Plymouth Rock? Bridge and Rocks-Anne and Sydney are all Barred Rocks. Right?
I know, it doesn't matter. They are all lovely chickens regardless. Just curious!
