Got it. Remember cats will go over as will raccoons and foxes. I don't know what skunks do - I have only ever picked up one on my cameras and it clearly had business elsewhere and was not interested in chickens!
Skunks go under and I don't like them in my yard either. I've seen them come and go.

I have been obedience training dogs for decades.

Irresponsible, inconsiderate owners really grind my gears. :rant🤬

A well trained and socialised dog is happy in itself and a joy to own and visit. A spoilt, untrained dog is a real pain.

They say there is no such thing as a bad dog, just bad owners.
I agree with you 100%

I used to rescue and foster dogs, so I've heard some horror stories. Being in this area now, folks are pretty good at keeping their dogs at bay. Even barking. I hear it in the day, but not at night, thank goodness..that's a pet peeve. Cats! People think it's fine to let the cats out. Had one kill, and eat one of my Heritage RIR's one year. Plus, I have a large front flower/garden bed out front. They come and pee and poo on my flowers and vegetables. One year it was so bad. Do you know how bad cat urine is on plants? I had no vegetables that year. Sorry to say, I had to start putting out a live trap. I work hard in that front bed. Vets will try and tell folks that it isn't a good idea to let cats roam. So many things can go bad for them. Fights that end up with sore infections. Hit by cars. Dog attacks. And yes, traps. 😔
I've heard that letting your cats go outside shortens their life by 4 years on average. Mine never leave my house.

So this egg was on the coop floor under Ester this morning. It is shaped like her eggs. It would be the first egg from her in weeks AND the darkest egg she’s ever laid. Her first egg cycle started with pale eggs and got lighter from there all the way to white. I’m hoping this is the start of a new, healthy, normal egg cycle.
