Do you have a video of what she sounds like normally? When Lucy lost her voice, she started making a high-pitched whine before she lost it completely. Now she can only whisper. Other than that, she is fine and a bossy madam.

I don't know that I do. I will try and find one. She is up and looking fine this morning.

Egg Laying Nonsense

There are days I look at this thread and think what am I going to post on today? Yesterday was not one of those.

At long last I had Elphie's story ready to go, it was going to snow significantly, and in the middle of everything Hattie's voice changed.

So I held this story for today.

Aurora Laid an Egg

That's right, only Maleficent is holding out on me now. Of course this did not happen without some shenanigans.

First I need to apologize to Lilly, she did not strip Hattie's favorite nesting box. Aurora did. I refilled the nesting boxes with fresh straw yesterday morning. Aurora did not care for that.

Then when it was time for Aurora to lay, Hattie was also trying to lay in the box that Aurora wanted to use. Would they share? Watch and see.

Here are the eggs when all was said and done.

And I ask you all, is this a pink egg? Perhaps both my EEs actually aren't laying brown eggs after all. It looks kind of pink in that nest.

Great job Aurora!

Wow! How many hens? Do you supplement light?
I have 16... and for the last 4 months or so only about four of them were laying.. quite a few of them were molting.. even new ones from this last spring which I thought they don’t molt until their second year.. but it seems to me and Bob and Shad could probably tell me so.. but they seem to follow what the rest of the gals are doing even if it’s not what’s “suppose” to happen...? I have mostly different breeds and the ones that are the same are different colors so I can tell them apart .. and I do not add light.. here are some..

Beautiful chickens! Love the first photo of the girl in front grooming herself.
