To everyone. I'm sorry for a couple of things one, I've been on a low and couldn't bring myself up enough to communicate. 2, I had to have a little read back to catch up a little so I'm late in saying hello and want to tell you all that I've missed everyone here you are all really lovely people.

I hope you will forgive my absence and my being rude by not saying hello first.

It's
Me and the family spent most of the day at the Royal Easter Show today.

Bad news I'm afraid. They were doing judging in the chicken pavilion for simply hours and had closed off most of the chickens so I couldn't get many photos. 🥺 Sorry to disappoint my chicken friends.

The sebrights were super cute.

In good news, youngest entered 3 items into the craft competition and won first place in "Handstitched leather item" category!

Hello Marie :frow :hugsHow are you doing this fine Sunday ?

You are right. It was too early. They don’t get on the roosts during the day. Can a chicken that young have a heart attack? I mean, earlier that afternoon she was completely normal, doing what they all do during the day. I examined her from head to foot, and she appeared to be in perfect condition except that she was dead.
It’s unnerving.
Yes, they can have a heart attack at any age. Their hearts are built differently to the human heart. The valve system is simpler and they pump more blood relatively in a period of time than a human. Often heart problems are hatch/development in the egg problems. There isn't anything anyone can do, mainly because one doesn't even know until they die.
Later in life, for roosters in particular who are fond of fighting, it's a heart attack that kills them.:(

Oh goodness. I just realized this did it post:

What a wonderful update on Fat Bird, Shad! Can you describe the massage in more detail when you get a chance? Can you actually feel her vertebrae?
It's very difficult to describe. The aim is to lift the the flexible bit at the rear end, but gently push towards the head of the chicken.
Yes you can feel the vertebrae. I've tried to feel a few of the others to see if I can detect a difference by touch. I'm going to see Mohammed after Easter to make sure I'm doing it right.
I did a fifteen minute session this morning. Whether it's the massage, or the Metacam, or a combination of both I don't know, but she was active again today and I didn't see her fall over and I've been out with her in view most of the day.

Shad, Can I use the name "Fat Bird" for one of my new Barred Rocks? (It does suit her well, she's growing up very fat) And I would consider it a favor, and an honor? :bow Please
I'll be honest Alex and write I would rather you didn't but you can name your birds as you wish.
For me, there can only be one Fat Bird. I'm sure you can understand this. Most of the names I've given the chickens I haven't seen anywhere else, a bit like Ribh's chickens.

I think we all understand this is the internet & sometimes life gets in the way. We all catch up when & as we can. I hope you are feeling better in yourself. :hugs
