They are the absolute cutest! I especially love that last photo of themToday was my littles' first outdoor dustbath (leaf bath?). They're getting so patchy now.View attachment 2602939View attachment 2602940View attachment 2602941
I am SO glad that you were able to rescue your chicken and that she ended up being just fine!!!Hugs for you.
I had a snake get 1 of my birds [I managed to rescue her] last week:

But what I learnt was chooks seem to go into some sort of shock so the trauma is lessened if they die. This snaked was wrapped @ least twice round my GLW & by the time I got it uncoiled from my girl I thought she was a goner. She lay all limp & twisted up as dead chooks do but she was simply in shock & stunned. It took us about 1/2 an hour to wrangle the snake into a bag for rehoming & it was about then my girl came to & hopped up as if nothing @ all had happened.
They'll recover much faster than you would believe. All my girls acted like nothing had ever happened the next morning.

O gosh! Poor fellow. The last time we looked at it there appeared to be an eyeball, but a very, very bloody one. I am hoping that it wasn’t one of his own girls after the fact.. but today, once the swelling was significantly down and we were able to mostly open his eyelid, there appears to be nothing in the socket. It’s possible that when we first looked at it we saw just the blood from the initial injury. Knowing it was either going to heal on it’s own, or not, and that there was nothing to do except keep it clean and hope for the best we left him to recover on his own, with his tribe
Jaffar is a hero! Amazing!@LozzyR. This is nutz, but I heard my roo Jaffar screaming, and it seems the hen went down a rabbit hole and got stuck. Without Jaffar, I would never have found her. I dug her out, and am getting her washed up.I am so relieved!! My rooster is a true hero to me now! This is them together View attachment 2600972
