Remember the egg I showed yall with the weird calcium deposits? Well I keep getting them... the shells are soft to crack but have a very strong skin... I wonder if I need to switch feed to a layer feed with more calcium... they always have oyster shell available but apparently some are not eating it... View attachment 2620301
My ISAs’ eggs did that as they aged, how old are your hens?

There are so many posts, but I wanted to catch up on what’s going on with @Scrambles83 flock. There’s some health issue(s) going on there, correct?
Not sure. Belle just seemed to drink a lot yesterday in a session. After just losing Bok I’m hyper alert to different things.
Crop was empty this morning, (got them out before sunrise and weighed them both) and she’s been eating fine and not going so nuts on the water (the one she drank from yesterday was new to them, a glass pie dish of all things, and maybe it was a novelty?)
Overnight poop was firm, she’s just being difficult in taking her wormer in anything today. Trying to be proactive about it.

I might try to ring again on Monday and ask differently.
I thought the exact same thing.
They send it off somewhere else to be tested from the sounds of it but still, a bit much.
A fecal analysis she called it, would that be correct?
That sounds right to me ~ but as we keep seeing here, science is not my strong suite! My vet does it @ her main surgery so that might make the difference, being in house 'n' all. It sounds more & more like I have been extraordinarily lucky with my Vet even though she only comes across to the island twice a week.

I still need to catch up on what’s going on here, but felt compelled to mention Ruby drank excessively when she had ascites. @Scrambles83 have you checked for bloating? Have we narrowed this down to a crop problem? Crop problems are often secondary to other issues, but I suspect we’ve already covered that here.
No bloating that I can feel, they are so spry and young compared to Bok (and don’t squat yet because they haven’t even hit laying), catching them is the fun part. 🙄
On another note, getting to touch Snow’s feathers this morning while I had her half in the towel was a majestic experience. They feel like silk 🥰🥰🥰

It’s still Friday in California! Grabbed these after work.

I can usually see bits of casing in their poop & just now I am seeing both tape worm & thread worm in their poop. One or 2 of my girls have a bad infestation. They are due to be wormed. My vet now tracks that for me & lets me know when they are due. Picking up their meds Tuesday. It will be a big day as I have 24 birds to dose. :lau
Are you using Avitrol Plus? That takes care of tapeworms and I found out today you can get it in tablet form. There is a withholding period though. Although you could scramble up the eggs and feed them to your not-as-yet laying young’uns.

Perhaps she had some grass or something in her digestive tract and was trying to help move it song. I will occasionally (rarely) see turds chained together by grass in the coop.

No. I now get my wormer from the Vet & there's no witholding period. I hate having to waste eggs & when everyone's laying I get a lot of eggs!
