I don't know. I'm told Marans tend to be broody later in life. I tell people she is a career hen, more interested in bossing the others about than being a mum. :D
She''s had a sit most days recently. If I believed she knows she has missed out in some way I would feel sad for her. Fact is, she's had a fantastic life by any any creatures standards.
I liked how Lucy would have a little sit if she happened across an egg. That was after she had stopped laying.

At the poultry show yesterday, I was talking to a friend’s husband who is a breeder. We got onto the subject of lifespan and he said the average age of his purebreds was six years. I then told him about Fat Bird and how my frizzle breeder friend’s chooks averaged around 12 years. He was absolutely astounded.

I went to a local poultry show this morning. And no, I wasn’t tempted into buying more chooks! ;) There were some tatty rescue ISAs but I just couldn’t go there. There was a trio of Cochins and a trio of Pekins that I briefly thought about, but I deliberately didn’t set up my quarantine area so I wouldn’t be tempted. I’m not in the right headspace for new girls at the moment.

But I took lots of photos. There was even a Vorwerks breeding trio!
