Did She Pose for that Mug?

I got a fun mug from my daughter for father's day.

Well I'm finally back home and let everyone out to free range this morning. Lilly stopped by for some table corn and I started wondering if she had posed for the mug!

Maybe she started modeling on the side for a supply of meal worms!! :gig

I'm sure the girls are glad you are back home. How is Patsy doing?

She's so beautiful! It's sad when they get older and slow down. At least she is still enjoying her time with you.

I had some left over mini bowtie pasta that I took them last night. I sat down next to her and it was a complete feeding frenzy. My original goal had been to give Patsy some. That went out the window immediately. She eventually got some after everyone else was stuffed. In the frenzy the others were taking bowties out of Patsy's beak before she could eat them!

It was crazy!

Haha!! I've experienced that myself many times!! Not only do the chicken swarm to snacks, but so does my dog.

Curiosity

I am sure we have all heard our chickens with something stuck in their throats. The is a quick squeak, maybe 2, a shake of the head, and they are back at it. Has anyone ever experienced a long term "squeaking" event? Maleficent just had one. It took several minutes for her to clear it. After a while I thought, "how would I help her? Is there a chicken Heimlich Maneuver?" I had a scare that she would choke right there before my eyes!

So that’s what the squeak squack is? I’ve heard it, but never see exactly why it happened, but as you mentioned just one or two random squeaks, never a bunch of them together. My only thought is chicken hiccups?

Mostly it happens when they eating out of my hand. It especially occurs with dry mealy worms. I think they get sideways as they gobble them up.

I was not involved in this morning's event. She got something stuck that she found herself.
