Rough Coop Drawings

I took some pictures and drew on them so you can get an idea of what the Polish Palace (I am open to name suggestions) will look like.

It will be built into the big run but will be elevated 16 inches or more above the run so I do not lose any run space.

I am considering a porch on the end and a window either opening into the run or out through the run looking at the other coop. The nest box will stick out through the run to add space.

I am considering a flat roof to give more up space for the ladies to go up. I want the long wall in the run to either be removable or drop down for easy cleaning.

As you can see I already have inspectors showing up to investigate my plans. I will be working square footage calculations today to determine the size and dimensions.
This looks good! I don't think a flat roof will shed water well, and it will get water on it - blown in rain & snow. Probably should tilt outward, toward the area between the coops. Or put plexi-glass on those two side walls and lose some breezes. But couldn't you have a tilted roof and still offer perches above it, such as one or more 2x3's or 2x4's floating just above the roof, but hanging from 2x4's coming down from the ceiling beams? Just throwing an idea out there...

I love a dirty beak. 🤪 😆

Better Coop Plans

I have translated the photo drawings to graph paper and sent them on to my engineer for working up. Here are the graph paper drawings for your perusal. Please feel free to make any and all suggestions that pop into your head.

You need to consult my Beethov-Hen. She’s the engineer of my tribe, and could decide on the feasibility of your plans.
(Not to mention, she’s a chicken) 🐔

I was curious. I keep enrofloxacin on hand as my go to. I know it does a good job on mycoplasma. That is something I fear and want to be able to get on top of quickly should it ever happen.
Yeah, I have enro on hand, too. It’s easier to ge at precise dose, but harder to administer, since it’s a liquid.

Aren't they all greeting you, more or less giving you the full chicken honors? Plus of course looking forward to feed & water refresh.
I guess they love me... I don’t have to add food or water in the mornings.. I usually do that in the evening.... I go out in the mornings to let them out into the yard and scoop the poop from under the roosts... after they all run out when I open the door they come back in and hang around 💕
