I’m in Central Valley CA. Up until now, I have been ok, but now (this crazy hot summer) I want a swimming pool ! My little jacuzzi just doesn’t cut it. Building one is just too much work. I’m very jealous of @BY Bob st this time!

Getting ready for an even hotter heat wave expecting 95 tomorrow and over 100 on Sunday. This is August weather not June! Just put treat blocks in the freezer for the girls. Homemade popsicles for the humans go in next.

I do have a lake close by, maybe I will take a swim tomorrow. I desperately need to cool off. The (local) rivers are dried up I’m determined, and get things done!

If there was any leftover frustration I felt from momma hens surprise a few days ago it completely melted away as I was filling my coffee pot this morning. I look out the window and she is sunning herself surrounded by her chicks with 3 perched on her back. She looked so happy and content doing what is really her calling and rearing chicks. Went out a few minutes ago and gave everyone a treat of leftover biscuits from last night and momma made sure the chicks got what they wanted before anyone else was allowed near. I snapped a few pictures but never managed to get all 10 in one shot. They have grown so much in the past few days and besides their legs, all are identical.

In Oregon! We've passed some three digit weather.. finally. Got up to 104 here, and like you, are saying this is too early! More like mid July, first of Aug. We got rain today!!!! It actually poured! Said thank you prayers right away.

Don't they! And the light colour will show slime better than then dark colours would - easier to know when a deep clean is called for.
