That was her at 9 weeks She’s gone through a lot of changes, losing the white (except for her face) then getting it back again. It has been amazing to see the evolution of her feathers.

Side on today, you can see her green sheen. Missed her tail in the pic though 🙄
She is pretty special. 😍

I'm laughing at the SHRA you get for being helpful. 🤣

This is also a reminder for the future that a SHRA tax payment has 2 chickens in it.
Belated tax add on 😉

How do you plan to do that? The Buckeyes run, kind of freaked out, when I turn on the garden hose anywhere near them. Probably because it's something in the air, and it's a new sound. I might have to try lugging water out to their ground. Today I made two small puddles and only covered an area of at most 2x3 feet, so covering more ground would be better but a lot of lugging. It is cooler here, but hit 87 today. They walked around with wings out some, mostly not panting, but when I put more ice cubes in their water at 2pm and they moved around a lot because I was out there, two were panting very soon. They have a good amount of shade but the air temp is high nonetheless.
I collect water off the roof of the Chicken Palace into a rain barrel which connects to a hose - I fill their waterers from that barrel.
My plan is to bring the hose round and just wet everything down. They might be scared and run away from the hose but once I am done they will love the cold wet dirt.
I am also going to keep them in the Chicken Palace complex and not let them free range. I worry about Maggie - she really seems to love the sun and goes chasing moths in the heat of the day when any sensible chicken would be napping in the shade. She came back from one chase today definitely panting. She is good at cooling herself off by dunking her wattles in the water bowl - but it still had me worried and I want to keep them in the shade.
