Okay, I have a broody problem. My hen Xzit, wanted to stay in the hot 🥵 coop, and sit on a golf ball. She’s a bran new laying hen. (First egg just last week) I had to bring her into my chicken room into the Air conditioned space. She was panting bad out in the laying box.
My question is: How to break a determined broody? She can’t stay in the house forever!
What about freezing one of these and putting it in there with her?

The Weather is Breaking

About an hour ago we had nasty thunderstorms. One dropped Quarter-Sized hail about 5 miles south of us. We just need to ride out the storms tonight and the weather will be more normal tomorrow.

Good sleeping for the ladies tonight though. Check out the coop thermometer!

Those thunderstorms are beautiful! I love thunderstorms but I just don’t like being outside during them haha

It is 97 here and I have just let everyone out because there is shade. Maggie however is in the one patch of sun chasing bugs.
And in more news. Remember the duck that laid eggs by my pool? Remember she narrowly escaped a raccoon who ate two of her eggs and I ate the remaining ones to discourage her return to such a dangerous place.
Well, she is back. And she had the last laugh.

How wonderful! 🥰 Now to keep her from messing up your pool. 🤔

Well now I am all worried. Will they starve to death because it is a swimming pool? Will the raccoon eat them? Will the skimmer suck them in and they will drown.
I have been catapulted into being a new duckling tender with no preparation!
They got this far without support, maybe they'll be ok?
