Bantam breeds? I have Wyandottes, Japs, D'uccle frizzles & a porcelain D'Uccle.Oh and 15 half day old bantams I am getting tomorrow.
What's going on with the pool? Mine is full after all the rain. The great duck rescue
Long story but a lot of the water was let out of the pool and it became clear to mother duck and me that the ducklings were stranded.

She kept trying to teach them to jump up but it was just to far.
I got water delivered but not enough to solve the problem.
Naturally as a chicken servant I had an idea.

The first three got it in minutes. But some ducklings are dumber than others and it took forever for the remaining three to figure it out. And even then they didn’t seem to know it was a way back to Mom and hunkered down like it was a wet roost. View attachment 2743621
Eventually everyone got out and I think found Mom.

I don't think that silkies are well known for their smarts like leghorns are.Ok that's it, silkies are just plain suicidal. Just ended a 3 hour long thunderstorm and it was time to put everyone up for the night. To my horror Holly only has 4 chicks, my favorite one is missing. In order to properly look for it I put her and her 4 up and momma and her 10 up so I can hear for a distressed chick. I hear nothing, but scanning everywhere I do not find a body either. On my 3rd trip around the building near the ramp I hear a faint peeping, but it sounds like it is one of the chicks under Holly. Just to be sure I look under the ramp and there she is, wedged under the ramp. I get her out and she is cold, wet and shivering. Bring her in to dry her off and give her a bit of save-a-chick that I mixed up for her. Used a medicine cup and she drank 2 tablespoons of it then ate a bit of chick crumble. I just took her back out and put her under Holly who was happy to see her but bit me for good measure. I swear these chicks are going to give me my first grey hair, something my now teenage daughter has yet to do.
