Here they are, getting ready to come out of their coop for a bit of foraging

I'm trying to recall their names. I know one is called Hermione and another is E. But I'm not sure who's who or what the other names are :idunno

Well one of the red/browns has to be Ron and a black has to be Harry 🤓

Uh oh. Such a bad habit.

RC I hate to say this but I have heard hens learn this from each other. So I'm wondering if she and maybe one friend can be separated from the others so the learning is contained?

Failing that, this page seems to have some practical suggestions.
Thanks MJ. I read the article but none of the causes listed make any sense in this case. I really hate to isolate her because that will definitely stress her out. So far I really think it only happens to broken eggs. Which is back to the shell issue.
Honestly in a way I was happy to see that she had put any shell on at all.

I really really hope that's the case :fl:fl

I know I'm late to respond to this. Shockingly, I'm obscenely behind in my reading. I had this same thing happen with Ginger about a year ago. Two eggs about 5 minutes apart. Once she had cleared the backlog she perked up and was tired but pretty normal by the next day. I'll try to catch up so I can see how it turns out for NaeNae.
I really appreciate you sharing this good news story. The whole thing has been a little heartbreaking for me tbh, second guessing myself and siphoning thru my books and various online articles and resources to arrive to a next step.

:fl:fl:fl she laid a normal egg yesterday, and one early this morning that had some defects on the shell (light discoloration at one end, and some calcium deposits) but a solid shell and not that obscene size from a couple days ago. Let's hope her poor little body is getting the hang of things.
