Ready!
Hinge came out with the rest of her tribe this morning. She ate breakfast and is currently under a bush next to Mag with the rest of her tribe.
Absolutely no signs of bullying and no more bleeding. She did lose a bit of blood so she'll get vitamin enriched treats for a few days.
I'm about to pick up some Amoxicillin from the chemist in case of an infection.
I'll give her another thorough check over tonight.

That’s so good to hear! We’re all rooting for her. :love

Excellent news. I am very happy to hear it.

All Cooped Up

This is why having a large enough proper coop for each on my flocks is on my mind now... for sleeping and laying there’s enough room for everyone in the tractors roosting box. But if/when they need locked in it gets crowded too quickly. The floor print is 3x6’ and yes it’s pretty roomy with the stepped roosts and vertical space, but not enough room to properly “chicken”. I can actually climb in and half stand up inside the roosting portion (very carefully, that hardware cloth floor isn’t going to support 150lbs of human!). On the rare occasions this has been necessary (weather, and they were staying in by choice so the door being shut just kept out more wind)for the most part everyone just stays on the roosts, hunkers down, and waits for the cold and snow to pass.

All things considered Bob, your girls have it quite good even cooped up... though I’m sure the complaints are starting! It’s for their own good until the vicious thing gets caught.

I recall you mentioned in a previous post the “Egg song causes panic” I thought I would add in that the alarm calls I heard were very similar to the eggsong noises my girls usually make. Owl attack 1 that took Zeta and Missy that was my only thought “that’s a really weird egg song”, as the roosters do a different alarm call during the day at “threats” like cars, planes, people they don’t know. All the additional visits I recognized the call right away. I still wasn’t fast enough to save anyone on attack 2. And unlike your Dad and Lucky, there was no way I was going to let Andrew shoot into a group of my chickens to get it.

Fairwell my Friend

We laid Maleficent to rest this morning. In her cabbage leaf are her favorites, mealy worms, a cheese it, and purple corn because she should never have to settle for yellow corn again.

You will be missed forever and will always hold a special place in my heart.

Farewell Maleficent. We will all miss you.
@BY Bob I am so glad you were able to bury her and provide her favorite provisions for her journey. As @Shadrach just said, now time to focus on the living. You may, like me, find only three a rather lonesome little flock. I am thinking I will add at least a couple more chickens once the worst of winter is done.
