Well I thought I would finally say something…I’ve been quietly watching all this unfold. First let me say that I‘m sorry for your experience with the shipping of your chicks, BY Bob. Losing those two was indeed heartbreaking and there you were, in the thick of it. Bless you for all your time and compassion for those little birds, you are indeed a gentle soul. You must be past exhaustion at this point yet also elated to see Phyllis with little Sylvie. With no other advice to offer, sometimes we just have to let nature take over. I pray that Sylvie gets stronger and starts to thrive.

Teaching her Baby

Watch this amazing video as Phyllis teaches Sylvie to drink. Be still my heart!
I am hugely relieved she is drinking but I don't think we are out of danger yet - she moves strangely and seems very tired.
Is there any way you can slip some calories and electrolytes into the water?

Also, since it’s Friday…you’ll all be pleased to know that I’m now giving my chickens supervised free ranging now! The only downside has been that they are always yelling at me to let them out….
Here’s Beaker in the sun 🙂

I didn't have any sound so couldn't hear happy cheeps. I hope that is all good - she definitely seems to acknowledge she has a baby!
For my preference she would be a little less obsessed with cleanliness and a little more obsessed with FOOD!
I don't think I will relax until I see them out and eating and drinking. Do please tell us when that happens!

Another hurdle cleared. Now that she’s eating and drinking by herself she will probably need lots of sleep under Mama Phyllis to recover.
Go Phyllis! Go Sylvie!

:love😍🥰😘

Is that dilute NutriDrench in there, something caloric at least for Sylvie? She is drinking a lot. Definitely weak. But progress, yay!!! ❤️ 💓 💓
It has electrolytes, probiotics, and other good stuff. She is eating. She ate fish from my hand and is eating off the floor now.

Two things - is Sylvie pooping? And does one have to worry about a chick drowning in the waterer when a momma hen is there, or have you got that covered? Sylvie is so weak and tired, I'm afraid for that.
She's squirting out poo. I do need to put the marbles in the water dish. Drat I forgot.

I think Phyllis has it under control. Sylvie and her are chatting away right now. I think it might have helped that she was weak, like a newly hatched chick.

I may finally sleep tonight once I know that she is tucked in.

Post water she picked up greatly. There are electrolytes, probiotics, and dextrose in the water. Phyllis knew somehow and had her drink from it several times. she is looking much better now.
