I saw that you did that in the one photo you sent me. I may try thatOne trick on the heat plate is to set it at an angle - front legs high back legs low. That way they can decide how close they want to be and you don't need to adjust it every day as they grow. I found the Roadrunners would pop into the high end and stand on tippy toe to warm up now and then during the day - but would then snuggle down at the low end when it was cold at night.
