And some of the cochin girls. They look slightly offended because I had just threatened them that if 1 more egg was laid in Louis stall free ranging time would be cut in half. 1 of them, and I don't know which one has decided that instead of going back in the coop to lay like the rest of the girls, she needs to lay Louis a toy.

She has the look of a born leader. I feel like this is excellent news for your tribe. Here are the other 2 pictures of Butter. I'm seeing a big change in flock dynamics and Butter is smack dab in the middle of it. I always assumed that one day Henrietta would eventually be top hen. Butter has decided to make a bid for the top spot. I don't know if where when she was injured her confidence got boosted where we would not allow any bullying from the chickens. Or if she always had this in mind but she has started asserting herself. Everyone now defers to her, including the former top hen Momma and all it takes is a look from Butter. If the look does not do the trick she will deliver 1 quick stern peck to get her point across, but 90% of the time the look is all it takes. This has really came in handy during roosting times. Momma hen can cause roosting drama as it changes nightly who she wants to sleep beside her. If the wrong chicken is beside her she tries to throw everyone off the roost. Butter will have none of that and has actually thrown her off the roost a few times. When this has happened and momma got back up she is instantly subdued and does not cause anymore trouble. If she really has become top hen I think she will be a firm but fair and peaceful leader.
