LA suburb, Whittier, (back before it was solid city from San Diego to San Francisco). By the time I was born, they were up in Chico. I know their ashes are scattered in Yosemite.

Dad's family, he grew up in Oakland and his sister was in Pleasanton (I think) until just a few years ago.
I think your family is stalking me. At least my California travels!! :barnie (Run away, run away)!🏃‍♂️

Well If it could go wrong with Holly setting this time around it did. I gave her 8 eggs when she went broody. She did everything right but a week in had terrible rains and flash flooding, her nest got wet. She refused to move so I rebuilt the nest for her. 2 1/2 weeks in had a egg explode under her. My god the stench was terrible and it got all over her and the remaining eggs. Cleaned the eggs as best I could, stripped and rebuilt the nest again and this time had to clean Holly. She did NOT appreciate it at all but after 30 minutes got all the goo and stink off of her. She had 2 chicks start hatching but die under her before they finished. Upon examination they never absorbed the yolk sacks and it looked like blood vessels got hit and they bled out. She had 2 chicks successfully hatch and she came off the nest with them yesterday. Did eggtopsies on the 3 that were left. 1 never started to develop but the other 2 I think the chicks died around the time the egg exploded under her. The 2 that made it are very strong and healthy. Again these 2 were Clover eggs that hatched and 1 has clean legs and 1 with feathered legs.
Introducing Frick and Frack.

Tough start for that feathered family 🙁

We love that apple so don't knock it. You are a unique individual ;)

As for me I wouldn't have you any other way :hugs

@Alex S Dad
Thank you for blessing us with your son.
Honestly, I didn’t think he took the time for prophylactics :oops: There I go again.. being over the top on Bob’s thread. Sorry

I was trying to get a decent mug shot yesterday of Poppy but it was late when I took the photos. I didn't even upload them until this morning. Rosie finally was able to start in person school yesterday and last night I spent a hour filling out the paperwork that the school sends home every year. I'm going to be honest, if your child has been in the same school since day 1, and if nothing has changed why do I need to fill out about 50 forms of the same stuff when in all honesty only maybe about 5 forms were needed. Oh well, she had a good day, loved her teachers and while I will not question she did better last year with one on one attention she missed her friends. These are the 2 pictures of Poppy that turned out semi decent. I've noticed something with the silkies, their feathers look and feel like cat or dog fur.

Hang in there. Your school children will grow up so fast, that paperwork will be the least of your worries! (Trust me) :old

You know that I do. I get that everyone is vested in this project right along with me and I love it. Please do not stop with the suggestions. You did your own integration and look at your tribe. I am always open to good ideas.

I think that statement might have been for me as much as for you all. The incident with the first batch of chicks may have led to me needing to publically remind myself that I have done this before.

There are no guaranteed outcomes on any of this. Phyllis may not like them. They may not like her. I can only provide the opportunity for them to become friends as I did with Sansa and Lilly. They get to decide the rest.
Only suggestion I have, is to move the Wide Screen TV into the littles new coop, away from the FBA original coop. Then they get entertained while they get big enough to join the pecking order! :confused:
