I wish mine would eat flies. I've got neighbors with horses and others with cows. Flies are everywhere, even in winter, yet they won't eat them, nor will they eat the box elder bugs. at least they will eat the abundant grasshoppers, and some of the ants.

My chickens and cats both eat flies. Éowyn is an excellent fly hunter. The flies get caught in her enormous paws and can't get out. Then she eats them.

I traded Shenandoah, for Hen-Rietta. Now I’m getting a real treat. A beautiful Leghorn keeping me company. Six years old and she’s still as sweet as a baby chick. (Ps. My prolific layer)
