You may need your cute shades for this....

In building the Chicken Palace there has been much debate about the rafters and whether the chickens will want to go that high up (it is over 9’ in some places). If anyone was in any doubt here is Diana answering the question definitively and I think rather beautifully. I love the whole ‘tippy toes’ thing she has going. View attachment 2022196
FABULOUS photo!!!

The funny thing is, if you go back to the beginning of our journey with chickens, I did not want them. I simply could not deny her. Her desires for those Fluffy chicks were undeniable. That decision, giving in to her, has brought me more joy than I ever imagined.

So here I go again. Fingers crossed that I can manage the flock and that this Polish lady brings us years of joy.
You're going to manage the integrations just fine. You know what you're doing. Next year you'll look back and realise how well it all came together.

You are a good man, Bob. If there is trouble, you can always trim her bangs! In all honesty, I have a friend with a mixed flock and she had three bantams (polish, silky, and another that looked like a mi katie’s brown leghorn... not sure if the breed) and they did fine. Her silky always raised the chicks she got at the feed store. If there’s trouble, you can always trim her bangs so she can see. :)
I've been thinking about trimming crests so chickens can see better. So far I've thought it best not to, but it's good to know other people do it.

Oh, really? I’m curious about your thoughts on that. I haven’t had a crested bird myself, and probably never will. However, I know lots of people adore them.

Yup, I've had legs like that.:hmm Most of the time now I get listen to. When I say "that will do chaps", they do tend to back off. Of course, the minute by back is turned they're off again.
Todays been good. I haven't seen a fight all day.
I think we should post this type of content. I would like to get a few shots of the hens fighting but their fights tend to be over very quickly.
I've been trying to get a photo of Sandy "educating" Peggy but, yes, it's over too quickly for my fumbling attempts.
