Yes, ive heard people say that, i agree with you. But our cat does not hurt any birds, shes very gentle. We dont put her out and trust her of course, shes fine with the chickens, fine with wild birds, shes perfectly fine. And has been using feathered cat toys. I think it depends on the cat and if their more wild born kinda, if that makes sense
My lad is the same. He was a stray and used too share his food with a magpie.

They sort of hung out together I only noticed them after they were both being attacked by a viscous flock of magpies in my back garden, at that time I intervened and would look out for the cat

I would feed the cat outside on my wall and noticed that he would would share the food with this magpie.

Some time after the magpie stopped coming, I can't say how long maybe year or so, I guess it died :( .

Shortly after the cat moved in and bounded with me and my dog.

Aww, thats so cute but sad.. yeah, your cat should not consider a chickens bird feather to start killing birds, because cats really do not target chickens (for me atleast and from many others) chickens get a lot better and most cats actually fear them more, the feather of the chicken really wouldnt be bad cause it has that smell on it if it meants sense, or this is how id think of it, if it was a random bird feather itd be different, if you still think its dangerous you can always rinse it and flavor it with catnip : )

The grey hen. She is the only one of this breed. So far I haven't seen her in a fixed roosting group. She just seems to fit in where she can. She's apart from the others a lot when out foraging but doesn't seem to be at odds with any of the other hens. Henry doesn't pay her much attention. Not sure what that means atm.View attachment 2855468
I'll read ahead but why can't she just be a lavender Orpington? I'm not clear on what the points against that are. There's something that looks more marans? Enlighten me, thanks!

Feathered legs. Whatever breed she is it's something that has feathered legs. She may be a X of course but Orps don't have feathered legs so whatever she is she's not a pure bred Orp.

Do you know what coured eggs she is laying? Looking @ that picture my best bet would be French Maran rather than Langshan. I will have another look once I'm up & on my computer but whatever she is, she's one very pretty girl.
I don't think she is laying currently. I'm nowhere near up to speed on who is who and who does what where yet.
I'm only just begining to be able to tell one Ex Batt from another.
