Amazon. Pecky Neb if I am remembering correctly.I will have you know, I’m now looking online to find (the worms in question) in larger bulk packages. You are right, the ones I buy are too small!![]()
It's takes a long time to use them up but they are way cheaper in bulk. How can you feed 10 lbs of SFL to your small tribe? It must take a while to go through them. Yes, it’s cheaper in bulk quantities, but I can’t trust my PO Box to have 10 lbs delivered to me. (It’s a very small post office, in an even smaller town)![]()
I think Fret is a great name for one of Shad's chooks!Fret? You probably should have called her 'CAT'
or something similar...she is an Excavator Extraordinaire!! (maybe she frets, too?) Each picture I've seen of her lately, is her hovering over a freshly dug pit.

Don't worry, sometimes I don't have time for my own thread eitherI love it! I’m sorry I have not been on your thread. It’s hard for me to keep up on just this one!
My chickens really don't like ravens. When they were chicks, they would alert for ravens and hide under the willow tree. Now they are definitely on guard when they hear them, especially if they can hear their wings whooshing as they fly over. A neighbour recently posted that ravens were killing her chickens. I think they were pullets. We used to have a wonderful pair of guard ravens. They lived here for years. I haven’t seen them in awhile but a flock (murder?) of crows hangs out now and then.

I think animals are good @ deciding where to trust when they are in need. I had half the neighbourhood kids arrive one day saying I had to come help. It turned out what I had to help was a very large Black Swan with a large infestation of sea lice. It was in a bad way & allowed me to wrap it up in a large towel & toddle it off to the wildlife lady who was able to treat & release. There there was the mutton bird... I could go on & on. Animals know if they can trust you.I do believe that they are so much smarter than we give them credit for (animals in general, but specifically birds/chickens)...and this is an excellent example of their 'emotional intelligence' - being able to determine our intent /read the situation(good or bad).
Maybe me anthropomorphizing..and they are just desperate so go with the flow?

It grows wild all over this property and the chickens love it. Here is Ruby on a hill of it back when she was Adventure Girl.I thought Oxalis was meant to be toxic for chickens? I downloaded a plant list (I think from BYC) but I can't find it.![]()
