I'm sorry Marie. I have been tied up. I'm back this morning.

Can you describe in length what is going on with your ladies now? I am wondering if what you are seeing is normal and needs to play out or if it is excessive. The addition of new hens to an existing group can be a vicious looking process and still be normal.
Welcome back Bob :)

This is more than likely my problem when flexi goes to rip into one of the new girls wattles I want to scream. I really cannot bear it. They all peck at them.

It's so sad because they really want to be friends and fit in. I felt so unsafe and exhausted last night and had to put the littles back into the small coop. They looked pleased because they were warm dry and safe with plenty of food and water.
Then the ladder broke. So I found a strong little plank to serve as an entrance but it needs to be altered so the door will mainly close.

You asked, sorry to go on ;) :hugs

Shad has been my saviour, he knew of a well recommended vitamin tonic, that will be here in the morning.
I looked up the reviews it's sounds really good.

Leaving this thread switched on to fall back on. Yesterday was a killer for me.

My poor baby is soaking wet

I ordered straw for the girls from the rescue shop on the 2nd of this month. I called twice the first time I was told it was delayed due to the petrol shortage then I called again and was immediatly offered a refund, :( which defeated the object of a donation.
So I was at least expecting this to arrive this morning but still no show :(

I actually called the supplier just now and they very kindly said they would send me some for free.

What has made me sad is I felt as if i was nuisance asking when this straw would arrive at this rescue shop. When all I was trying too do is support them because I wholly believe in this charity.

Currently I'm left with nothing I'm happy with because the barley straw I bought previously I found too be too rough.

Blowing my own trumpet I think I would make a pretty good phone shop sales lady, maybe I will offer my phone services.

Friendly communication and patience are fundamental in sales especially a charity
You don’t want rough straw on your chickens soft tender feets! 😢

Volt and Amp.
These two are Red Rocks, a cross between a Rhode Island Red and a Plymouth Rock.
They are the most aggressive hens in the group.
Volt, instant aggression but over in a flash.

Amp, just plain mean and chases any more junior hen that upsets her.

The pair. Interestingly, Henry won't have anything to do with either of them and chases them away from the food and the weaker hens.

So, you are trying to say that both ladies have electrifying personalities.

Too bad they aren't nice, they are pretty birds. :idunnoMust be the RIR in them!! :idunno (lol, I happen to love my :loveBarred Rocks and the one Partridge Rock :love I had, so of course it can't be that breed's fault!)

Sounds like Henry II is a pretty smart man. Maybe he and one of the ladies will hatch a few chicks and he can have some help keeping the ladies in line when his offspring grow up!
Electrifying was what was on my mind at the time I admit.
Electrifying personalities is a description I would rather keep for chickens with a more pleasant disposition.
Shock was the word I think I had in mind that led to Volt and Amp.:D

I agree. They should at least be friendly and as helpful as possible. Very sad. 😔

Friendly people on phone sales is far less since lockdown.

I really enjoyed my work and I'm so sad too come across such cold and indifferent people that couldn't care less about the person they are speaking too.

One guy I spoke too several months ago actually said "I really don't care what you do" when I was trying to get details of a dysfunctional machine I had purchased that was still under guarantee, he couldn't be bothered to find my purchase details and put the phone down.
