It was an attempt of being poached, it worked in my old microwave I tried twice on different settings and they both explodedYou need to make a pinhole in one end of the egg so the rapidly expanding gas can escape. The air heats (and expands) quicker/more than the shell. If you allow some of that rapidly expanding gas (air) to escape, the pressure doesn't build up , hence no explosion! [Nothing quite like cleaning splattered egg guts off the micro, eh
