My go-to lately for mud is wood pellets. I love those things!
I love wood chips. We get them free from local tree companies. It they are pruning electric lines anywhere near us, we ask. They are very happy to drop a load for free near their worksite. Saves them time and money...win-win!

When it comes to boiled eggs I'm right there with you, I despise them. Any shape form or fashion. It should also be criminal to put boiled eggs in macaroni and potato salad. That being said, fried eggs, scrambled eggs and omelets I could eat every day.
OMG....I love them pretty much any way but raw!🥚🍳🥚, but especially hard boiled. Partly because they transport well and don't have to be warm...so make a great 'snack' that can be eaten easily (since I don't get a lunch break - this is important).

It's okay if you don't like eggs, or don't like them hard boiled....just means more for me😉

A Day of Rememberance

November first is a tough day around Fluffy Butt Acres. It is the anniversary of perhaps the greatest failure of mine as a chicken guardian. It is the day that my chicken friend Elphie fell in the pool and passed from hypothermia while I ran inside to take a call for work.

I remember her every year on this day. She was the first of these chickens to take an interest in me. She was funny, smart, and beautiful. She taught Daisy, the greatest hen, ever the ropes.

For those who choose not to read the entire thread and don't know Elphie's story, here is a link to it.

And here is my friend who I tragically let down. I miss you all the time. I'm so sorry my friend. Please forgive me and rest in peace.

She is such an elegant looking girl. So sorry for your loss...and in such a tragic way. :hugs :hugs :hugs

I was pulling your leg...just a little bit. That being said, those pics are great! Now if I could only figure out how to peel them without breaking them. I think the soft boiled would be fantastic for Scotch Eggs, but 90% of my hard boiled eggs pull the white all over anyway. I am making notes of everyone's methods to try....with high altitude adjustments...
I only peel hard boiled eggs. Soft boiled I decapitate and scoop out with a spoon.
:drool

Well that was a real treat. Thank you for sharing. Apart from the molting one which I could have done without personally!
:love
Patsy was such a cheerful molter for such a hard molt. It did not slow her down at all. She did not change her diet and still bullied Lilly as much as usual.

More treat! There are some old favorites in there as well as some I don't remember seeing before. What a specially lovely lady. :love
I pulled photos from the archive without a thought as to whether I had posted them before or not. I have even more!

Yes, the pricking of the egg most definitely does make peeling easier, @BY Bob. particularly when the eggs are fresh (which makes them harder to peel, generally speaking)
I have the worst time peeling our fresh hard boiled eggs. I have to try this when I have fresh eggs again.
