Priceless.I came across this and think @Aussie-Chookmum you might be right about the best way to deal with the mice.

So much for ferocious hunting kitties.

I'm not sure I could do it justice.
I love the plan and am taking notes furiously as I look ahead for when I increase my little flock a bit later in the year (once the Chicken Palace is finished!). The one thing that was worrying me was the 2 hours before dusk thing because that is when predators are most active. I assume you will be standing out there in the yard with them so I assume that will work, but my being 10 paces behind the fox didn't really put it off taking Scary so I am nervous about the pre-dusk free ranging thing.
I can't do the free range. I would have no Campines left.I must be there the entire time. That is why it is easier when it is warmer. There is no free range without supervision unfortunately.
I can't manage that either. Currently this is the best I can do. I had to shut the chickens out while I did some non chicken friendly activities. Then video is required.

Treacle sulking. He got told off by Solomon.

Actually Solomon did tell Treacle off. A few seconds earlier Treacle had tried to hustle Jenny (Solomons partner) away from the water/drinker. Solomon arrived and gave Treacle a slap.I still love that top photo, the indignation on her face is priceless! And what does a duck say to a rooster that makes him hang his head in shame like that?! (I’m sure he’s not and the photo is just well-timed
).
Interesting. I think I see that, too. Ruby is a heavy eater, so I’m not too worried right now. I’m doing everything I can for her. I actually saw her run across the street today! It seems like a small thing (and it is), but it’s progress!Where did you buy those snow shoes for the white one?
I don't know if it's relevant or not, but when the hens here moult or have egg laying problems they go off the commercial feed and eat mostly what they forage.
Gorgeous!This is Alpia.View attachment 2028245
I'm sure you can spot all the breed flaws.
I'm just happy to have them.
I will try & get a decent shot of Wrold later. She is a darker hen.
