Opps, sorry. I forget people keep these chickens.
Dotty strongly disagrees with the description ‘damaged’.
Even Minnie (who might actually be damaged) is not keen on that moniker and drew herself up to full height and flaunted her single tail feather while telling me so.

Perfect. At some point they'll be confident enough to try the higher roost, but by then Phyllis may have broken her habit of pecking at roosting time.
The hope is that when they are big enough that Phyllis will establish the pecking order and the pecking will calm down. That is only a hope, not a strategy.

That looks more promising Bob. If Phyliss sees them doing more adult stuff she may show more interest even if it's just to make sure she gets accepted as boss.
Bullied hens tend to turn into bullies, it's what they've learn't. Phyllis's problem is the pullets will grow to be hens and in all probability they'll stick together.
I'm not holding out a lot of hope that they will all three be pals. I am hopeful that I might get a Daisy, the greatest hen ever, Patsy and Lilly situation. Patsy and Lilly grew up together and always had a bond that Daisy would not have with them. However, they moved into Daisy's house and accepted her rules. If I could get that to happen then I would be very happy. There is no way Phyllis will ever split those two up. They are way too attached to each other.

The whole thing is already a success. Phyllis has a safe place to roost and is not sleeping alone in the run on an outside roost. Hopefully they will develop into some kind of group. But even if not, at least the abuse Phyllis takes is limited to the typical bottom of the order pecking. It's no longer running the gauntlet every night.
