Little Xzit doesn’t have any mites or lice (I checked very closely) she is moody and seems uncomfortable, but I can feel her pin feathers growing out. She doesn’t seem to mind sitting here on my chest. I Gave her some soldier fly larvae and she gobbled them all down. I think that Bob is correct (just a very early molt, but she ain’t liking it) 🙁

Appointment Set

Sansa and Lilly will see the Vet on Monday afternoon. Lilly gets to ride in the car again. She loves car rides!
Gotta say I've been watching this video repeatedly on it's own tab. What fun! The Christmas music on the radio along with it....She looks like riding in the car is a lot to keep track of, but she doesn't appear stressed or over heating. She's really into it. 🥰 Maybe it's like flying, about 4 feet in the air, but of course way easier?

It is one of the all-time classics!
I was surprised when I took Maggie to the vet how she took it in her stride. I had her in a cat carrier but the kind with a cage front so she could see out and she settled in and was very interested in what she could see around her.
My cats on the other hand are terrified on car rides.

I've been learning simplified and mandarin for 3 1/2 years. I think our book encourages a Beijing accent.

If you're being encouraged for a northern accent (more rural), then anything that is spelled (pinyin) ending in an "-an" or "-en" is pronounced "-er". Phonetically the "n" gets changed to an "r". Anything ending in "i" frequently has "r" added too (not consistenly). Also tip: "x" is about halfway between "s" and "sh". Rural Shanghai mixes those around. (If someone doesn't understand (through listening -yes, different term from written incomprehension)) palms come out and characters are finger scribbled on the PALM not the back of the hand). Numbers 1-10 are signed with 1 hand (some of the signs are the same as ASL alphabet) to aid in comprehension. Tones can also shift through dialectal variation. "Beijing" accent is going to match most of the media/governmental announcements/higher education. Kinda like the Queen's English vs Cockney, Liverpool, or broad Yorkshire dialects.

Thanks for the future bird house update pic. Love seeing the progress!

My tax: chilly 15F, crystal clear skies, taken 10 min ago.

I read that the annual molt is triggered by some combination of day length and temperature. But individual chickens respond differently. Also it seems an individual chicken can respond differently each year. Maggie’s molt last year was just awful and this year so far it hasn’t bothered her much. What is going on with @BY Bob’s Sansa is just very weird indeed. I really hope he gets some answers on how to help her.
So do I, it's really worrying :( I'm really worried for my girls, it's the wrong time of year for molting. Especially concerned for my new babies, it's their first year of freedom how will they cope with lack of feathers Tina is the worst with amber's plucking

How's the vertigo? RC

Aww thanks for asking. Still there but improving every day. Getting out of bed is now so mild it is weirdly pleasant - like starting the day mildly tipsy! I still have trouble with rapid pivots but I am definitely on the mend.
Just curious why you say i tis the wrong time of year for molting. My understanding is that molting is timed to ensure that they have new feathers to keep them warm in the depth of winter when they really need it. Isn't it heading to winter with you now?
