Here is one of my Blue JGs. Is this a feather shredding issue? She's looked like this for awhile. It seems like it's gotten worse since she started laying and the rooster has been, um, paying attention to her.

The other Blue JG doesn't have this problem.

They both have nice fluffy butts. I'll get a picture of that sometime too.

That looks like the same thing Hattie had. Feather shredding.

No don't do that just now Bob. There is just too much sadness around and I really don't think Minnie is in any immediate trouble.
I am happy to keep observing and of course tormenting everyone here with pictures of my little lady.

Wonderful. I laughed out loud.
I do indeed have that one neighbor (well not exactly neighbor but nearby) and I appreciate that, like a puppy, he is not just for Christmas.
I actually think he is best at Halloween.
He has cut back in recent years due to cost, but this year he invested in a giant inflatable Santa who when it drops below freezing buckles at the knees and falls down on his back.
I get a great kick out of seeing Santa out cold paralytically drunk early each morning when I head out.

These folks do Halloween as well. I also find Halloween even more impressive.

I wonder if my assessments of nevermore Red Tail hawks have always been Cooper's Hawks.

What is the phrase you're using - "Nevermore" Red Tail Hawks? You mean like a crow? Cooper's Hawks are sort of crow-sized https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Coopers_Hawk/id but it might be a female Sharp-Shinned Hawk, which might fit the size.

They aren't raven-sized, a small raven = a large female Cooper's, possibly.
