It’s finally happened, I feel so ashamed. I should have predicted that this may happen someday. And yes, it does feel as shameful as it is. /////// Due to my chooks not laying eggs (because of several reasons) I was forced “yes forced” to buy store eggs. I feel so ashamed No, the neighbors only had enough fresh eggs for their own families.
Only my BoPeeps is laying one a day.

I am resisting so far but I am not sure I can hold out for long. Fortunately there are locally available small farm free range eggs available. But I still feel disloyal.
The dreadful day has been delayed because today Minnie laid an egg. I think I can take her off my worry list.

It’s raining pretty hard now. The chooks are hanging out under the porch where it’s warm. I can’t fit under there, or I would go hang out with them. Not a good day to fly, and I already went to see Chaco this morning. So I’m BYC-ing for a little while.

Oh dear. I don’t know what to do. Maggie made it up to the roost.
Part of me says leave her there because there is healing power in being snuggled with others in the tribe.
But part of me is terrified she will fall off and injure herself and so wondering if I should take her down and tuck her into a nice safe nest box.
Oh dear. Oh my.

Oh it is clear I do not have the emotional resilience to keep chickens.
Diana came up to the roost and was clearly disturbed at seeing Maggie in ‘her’ spot (traditionally it has been Maggie’s spot in fact).
She paced back and forth for several minutes. Kept eyeing the roost across the way where the Roadrunners have established an alternative base camp and ultimately threw Maggie off
It is a sign that Maggie is not well that she was able to do that.
So, it appears Diana with no feathers prefers to roost alone. At least Maggie isn’t injured.

She is really just showing off that she now has a tail to preen.

You would think all the new rocks would lay throughout this winter being their first laying season. I'm sorry you've had to resort to buying the dreaded "fake eggs" as my daughter has come to call them. I'm soo glad my girls don't have access to beakbook to hear of this freeloading situation going on. I'm still getting 5 to 6 eggs a day.

They do seem to do their utmost to teach us to be emotionally resilient.
