Thank you! I am just so excited to see Minnie fully healthy again that I keep taking photos of her. I think I will send this one to the vet so she can see Minnie really is back to rights.
You did such a good job with her. One of the great wins this year! šŸ‘

Winter has arrived. Any lake effect yet?
I think te snow we've had to date has been lake effect or the tail end of a Nor'easter coming from the south, sort of flipping from one to the other. But it looks like we're going to be in the high 30'sF tomorrow!

Run Hattie Run

Saturday evening I let the tribe out for some free range. Aurora led Sansa and Sydney over to the apple trees while Hattie, Lilly, and Phyllis stayed at the magnolia tree to eat some pasta.

Watch as Hattie and Lilly run across the "open" ground and Phyllis requires escort.

They all do seem extra cautious out in the yard.

That is great that they are honing their chicken instincts to stay in places that are 'protected' and to 'run' over open ground. Even if they aren't safe in the 'protected' areas, it does make them less visible for a predator flying overhead, and means they are more aware of their surroundings (again, even if they aren't truly safe without the armed šŸ‘®ā€ā™‚ļøSecret Service AgentšŸ‘®ā€ā™‚ļø doing patrol.) I loved both Lilly & Hattie's fly run'ā¤ļø Chickens look so adorable when they do that!:love

Of Course, Phyllis chooses the utmost in safety - proximity to the armed guard

As I am most worried about Phyllis, her hair do and small size, I am pleased that she hangs next to me. I just need to keep moving like a good rooster for her to cover ground.

I’m convalescent today. But I have Arizona with me and she’s resting up too. I think we both are disappointed about her eggs not making it. I don’t mind though, (I’m not sure how she feels) :idunno I still don’t know what actually happened to the nest.

Hattie and Lilly managed an impressive speed for their size!
