Here’s what I do when I feel sad and miss the chickens that have gone. I call the ones I have over, and try to be happy with what I have: the beaks may change, but the emotions remain the same!

I have to remind myself of that often. But yeah, I do cry before I get to the smiles.

Very much so. Distance, ie, time, gave me some perspective on some of my major losses, and I was able to appreciate and treasure what I had experienced.

Pangoo starts around 05:00hrs, the brat. Ok at this time of year window all closed, but summer ? Ugh..... Good thing I get up at 5!

Jaffar usually starts on his rooster, around 05:15. But when he’s indoors with me, he sleeps in late. (Because I’m usually busy rubbing his waddles) “He likes that”
