Thanks. She’s been through a hard molt before and did not handle it well. But this is something else. She seems to be in crop stasis, which undoubtedly is from something like an obstruction further down her gastrointestinal tract.
Did you end up taking her to the vet Michelle?

I wouldn't worry about her spending time indoors when she's sick. I'm sure her mind is on her body and not on her surroundings.

Oh Bob!!!! I like hawks but this one needs to go! I have no suggestions. It's not a problem I've ever had to deal with.
I have resolved myself that there is nothing to be done but to protect them in person. Their lives will be limited to the complex unless I am standing with them. One positive is that I do not believe that this will upset Hattie at all.

I cannot think of another reliable solution at this point.

Hi folks. Ester is at the (emergency) avian vet. A different avian vet from the one who treated Ruby is going to examine her quickly before the regular avian vet arrives, at which time, they will jump into surgery. From my perspective, she is declining. I’ll let you know what they say, but suspect I’ll be going home without her today. 😔
Shra, and the love is for you because I know it hits you hard :hugs

Thanks, everyone. I opted for euthanasia. Poor Ester.
It seemed to me that she had a great life with you. You made a difficult decision but I trust you enough to appreciate it is the correct one.

I am so very sorry for your loss. :hugs :hugs :hugs

Thank you. They were not vaccinated, We recently got them and havent had a chance yet (or the people may have vaccinated them, but i have no clue, we didnt personally)
You can direct dose Corid. I have helped others save chicks that were pretty far along. Let me know if you wish to try.

For those of you who can view facebook videos this has been going on for a hour. I've decided that while I could add more boxes on the porch, what's the point when they are all fighting over the same one. Holly is about to be thrown out if she does not leave on her own in a minute, she laid her egg 30 minutes ago and is just being a brat hogging the box.
What is this behavior all about? For crying out loud ladies! I have never been able to figure this out.

Thanks, everyone. I opted for euthanasia. Poor Ester.
Again, the love is for you.

Let's think of Ester.

She had so many hours of following her chickeny dreams, free ranging with her friends! Great food, and no hunger. A vet when she needed medical support. She was almost always safe from predators.

And on top of all that wonderful living, she came third in the hard moult contest!!

Much loved.

Sadly missed.
