Again, the love is for you.

Let's think of Ester.

She had so many hours of following her chickeny dreams, free ranging with her friends! Great food, and no hunger. A vet when she needed medical support. She was almost always safe from predators.

And on top of all that wonderful living, she came third in the hard moult contest!!

Sadly missed.

She was a lovely soul.

Your situation is flooding my mind full of the losses that I have endured with my unfortunate birds. (Several losses)

Even the healthy ones have short lives. We have to adjust our expectations.

I have resolved myself that there is nothing to be done but to protect them in person. Their lives will be limited to the complex unless I am standing with them. One positive is that I do not believe that this will upset Hattie at all.

I cannot think of another reliable solution at this point.

I don't think anyone will be upset Bob. It's a big complex.

My crew is limited to the barn unless I am out there to oversee them.

Here are things mine are entertained with: hay bales- they love to test them apart and pick at bits and pieces; those paper shavings bags- they jump on the bag, crawl into it, peck at it... Great fun hahaha; upside down buckets- enough said there haha; all sorts of ramps, bridges, poles etc...

You can set up a whole gym for chickens haha. (We want photos if do set up stuff )

They will eat spaghetti much like a work. Line it up and swallow it down whole.

I have to remind myself of that often. But yeah, I do cry before I get to the smiles.
