I am not really sure - it has all been just fine until Minnie got sick and decided to roost on her own on a roost that is actually designed for baby chicks who come out of a little door in the brooder to give them a safe place to observe the world from.
It just happens that Minnie is a very capable flyer so she flies up to it from the floor or from the main roost. And this has got Diana thinking she is missing out. It is no higher than the main roost (all my roosts are at the same height) but Diana cannot get up there because there isn't a ladder and she can't fly.
So poor Diana goes to the (previously) prime spot on the main roost and then gets all worked up that she cannot get to 'Minnie's roost'.
Dotty is perfectly capable of flying to Minnie's roost (this flying seems to be a Roadrunner thing) but chooses to sleep with Diana. She sits on a 3rd roost until Diana settles down and then joins her.
It all just gives me a headache!
If they are OK with it, then you should be too. Why force them to sleep with people they don't want to sleep next to?

I'm sure she will settle again soon. There is a lot of transition with your group right now.
Yes indeed. I really wish Minnie would go back to roosting on the main roost now she is no longer molting and is clearly hale and hearty again.
I also wish she wouldn't get up in the middle of the night and lay an egg in the nest box where poor Maggie is hiding out for the night.
And I wish Maggie would get fully well and stop sleeping in the nest box and I wish she wouldn't climb up to the roost for the sole purpose of pushing the Roadrunners off it before climbing back down and going into her nest box.
I think I have to stop watching - it is all just too much fuss. Only Dotty seems calm, she just waits on a side roost until all the kerfuffle is over and then quietly goes up and roosts next to Diana.
While I am wishing I wish Diana would stop molting - she is still shedding feathers and isn't yet growing any more.

I am fine with it except that Diana seems frustrated that she cannot sleep where Minnie sleeps even though she sleeps in what has always up to now been the favorite spot.

It is a lot for sure. Remember when everything was going so smoothly?

Sad News

Sansa passed away today. I just found her in the run. I will not be doing a necropsy. I really don't care why she passed. She was active and seemed fine, a few hours later she was gone.

Rest in Peace my friend.

@MaryJanet @Aussie-Chookmum
I didn't read or know this until now, Saturday! :hugs :hugs She was a beautiful hen. I'm sorry she couldn't pull through her troubles, maybe her body was just failing her overall, but I'm glad it appears she died quickly when death did come, and was active up to then. You gave her a good home and a good life in the tribe. :hugs :hugs :hugs RIP Sansa.

I’ll see myself out. 🤦‍♂️
We needed a few bad jokes today. Thanks for stepping up. 😆
