I’m about to give Chickie her pill and give them some breakfast. Lucy and Charlie don’t need extra breakfast at this point but if it means Chickie is eating, they can be spoilt a little longer.

I’m also going to move quarantine this morning so the newbies aren’t knee-deep in poo. :sick I also took this picture this morning.

Nyssa and River are out! (Tegan possibly wants to lay an egg 😉).
That looks to be a handy little coop Lozzy.

It’s official; sardines are poisonous

I gave the big girls half a tin of sardines this morning (they don’t finish a whole tin anymore). I thought “I know, I’ll treat the new girls to the other half!” So I gave them the rest; each one came up, eyed it suspiciously and promptly ignored it!
Did you cook them?

The volume of posts and the wonderful pictures and videos is large. It just isn't practical to respond properly to every post.
Imo everyone spread over the three threads does an amazing job just going through and reading them.
These three threads are about the only threads left on BYC that haven't morphed into chat and drivel. I think you all do a great job and tbh these three threads are about all that keep me logging in each day.
I joined BYC to talk about chickens and all of you have made this very enjoyable.
:clap

Thanks! In actual fact, it has been nothing but trouble. It’s got wheels at one end so you can drag it; two days before I got Bessie and Charlie the panel with the wheels snapped when I was moving it. They replaced it free of charge but I had to repair the panel in the meantime. Part of the warranty conditions were you had to paint each panel back and front separately, at least two coats before putting it together. I did this and once I put it together, I varnished it to make it water-proof. This meant it was almost impossible to pull apart if you needed to replace a panel! When I did, I had to break another panel to get the replacement panel on! I was able to fix it and put it back together. The screws rusted and wouldn’t screw back out, one of the door-stops fell out because it was only stapled on and the window slide is ply wood; moisture has managed to get in and the sheets are separating! Plus if it rains, water can get into the nesting box, which is why there is a tarp over it. So, not my best purchase, but it does the job (and I won’t be buying from them again!)

Thanks Shad! I love talking about my girls and showing them off, and the support here when a chook is sick or has died is amazing. I also love reading your stories and seeing your pictures; I feel I get to travel to Spain just for a little while and spend time with your tribes. Thanks for hanging out with us.
