How interesting! I noticed some really odd behaviour in the younger Campines the other day which sounds like *play*. They were in the sandpit area when one suddenly began spinning round & performing what looked like a little indian war dance. The other joined in & these 2 mad birds spun round dementedly for almost 5 minutes. Just as suddenly it was all over & they wandered off.

Wish you had video of that. :gig

I've got a lot better at carrying my camera but often it's all over by the time me and the camera are ready.
I need one of those on all the time video cameras strapped to my head.:D
I usually take my camera with me if I'm going out to the girls but I was washing out dishes ~ which is not conducive to picture taking. :D

I've always missed so much by the time I check in there seems little point in posting, but today I'm chipping in.

Phyllis, Sansa and Sydney are settling in really well! When will you encourage roosting as one big flock?

Also, @Aussie-Chookmum Mary is in a heavy moult at present. She's through the discomfort stage, which lasted about ten days, and now the new feathers are growing out. She looks a mess, but that's ok. We're at the end of Summer @Shadrach.

And @LozzyR is Chickie chowing down this morning? And how are River, Nyssa and Tegan this morning?

Cohabitation Begins Tonight

@MaryJanet asked the question that I was about to answer.

I will be moving the new girls to the big coop tonight. I am home a solid week at this point so Mrs. BY Bob can assist without having to do. Hopefully by next Sunday we are together roosting in one happy coop. :thumbsup

I do need to replace the coop door battery first. The door did not open all the way today. The last thing I need is them trapped inside together tomorrow morning.

I’m about to give Chickie her pill and give them some breakfast. Lucy and Charlie don’t need extra breakfast at this point but if it means Chickie is eating, they can be spoilt a little longer.

I’m also going to move quarantine this morning so the newbies aren’t knee-deep in poo. :sick I also took this picture this morning.

Nyssa and River are out! (Tegan possibly wants to lay an egg 😉).

It’s official; sardines are poisonous

I gave the big girls half a tin of sardines this morning (they don’t finish a whole tin anymore). I thought “I know, I’ll treat the new girls to the other half!” So I gave them the rest; each one came up, eyed it suspiciously and promptly ignored it!
