Farmer Bob Released the Ladies at 6:30 this Morning

And provided sunflower seeds as a morning snack. Aurora is at my feet and did not make the photo.

Meet the Ladies: Sansa

I'm going to steal shamelessly from @MaryJanet and give some profiles of the ladies. Today we start with my number 4 hen and leader of the Newbies, Sansa.

I used to call Lilly the "spare hen" because we got her as the third hen in case we lost one. That way we would not have to rush to bring in another so our lone hen would not be lonely.

Sansa was the "extra" hen that was offered to me to go with Phyllis and Sydney. I did not want to have 6 hens but I could not break up the set and leave Sansa without her flock mates.

So my Extra hen has been a real find and she is prefect with this group of older hens.

Brave
Sansa has no fear of the unknown. She is a little trail blazer. She frequently decides that she just wants to be over there and off she goes. Frequently leaving Phyllis and Sydney behind wondering "where did she go?"

While she is smart enough to avoid getting pecked by the older hens, she is fearless enough to eat with them. Dodging and even stealing food from their beaks occasionally. With Aurora that is showing real bravery.

And of course there is drinking that nasty water on top of the pool cover. That is real bravery. :sick

Climber
Sansa loves to climb. I think these photos and video will explain it all.

Where Did her Name Come From
Sansa is a character from Game of Thrones. She is a young woman who through the course of the show becomes "Queen of the North" essentially a sub portion of a larger kingdom. It seemed apprpriate for someone who was going to be alpha hen over the sub flock of 3 new hens.

Favorite Food: Blueberries

Favorite Band: Spice Girls

Favorite Song: Spice Up Your Life

Favorite Quotation: "I am tormented with an everlasting itch for things remote" Herman Melville

The thing she is always saying to the others: "It is my burden to lead you; you should be glad for me and follow willingly"

Of course it is. I hope she gets better soon. :hugs

If you are lucky when you come back @Kris5902 will write up a summary for you!
Sorry Bob and @ValerieJ no can do... I’m due for a ton of catch up reading here as well, unless someone more diligent would be so kind? ;) But I know I have to go back anyway forall the cute videos and pictures so...

Edit to update: 30 pages of reading??? I haven’t been here since the beginning of the week! I feel so neglectful. Note to self: Page 772 is where I left off

Also I’m now at 6 chicks from the 10 eggs I put into lockdown! And with chores, work and the hatch probably will have even more catch up when I get home tonight!

No worries!!! I don't expect anyone else to make up for my crazy schedule. I have no idea what page I was on!!! Just starting from here, and still trying to catch up with all the Newbies.

I may have mentioned Queen Victoria has been very ill. With advice from my BYC friends, she has finally turned a corner today. :ya She is alert, eating and drinking on her own, and back to complaining when I pick her up!!! :lau Three days ago I didn't expect her to make it through the night. Since we have had a continual conversation for three days, I have given her the nickname "Queenie". :D

It's a good morning to enjoy my coffee and get caught up on BYC!!

Before long, Sansa will be climbing on top your head. She’d totally be queen of the hill then 🤪

Well, the temperature has risen above freezing a few times as of late and the glaciers have begun receding. :wee

The backyard remains covered 3 feet deep and it's windy today , so the girls are still not too keen on venturing out of their draft-free complex. But here are a couple of pictures of our homogenous group. It can be hard to tell them apart, even for us sometimes.
