Uh-oh🤥...what happened to adding more in 2021? I know I haven't read between 9/2020 and 8/'21...but you only have 4 right now...2 princesses & Minnie & Dottie. No newbies this past year?????🤔🤔🤔🤔
No! I held off. Now I need to resist the urge to get like 6 at once!

The hardest part is not being able to comment on “current” seeming chats… remember, it was two years ago, that situation has worked out… just have to keep reading…reading. The not current chat is what makes it hard for me. Lol and in there there are also so many good stories, and comments, and info… 😂
I love when people chime in on old chats. It brings the memories back. @bgmathteach just did so before you. It's lovely to reminisce.

It’s a good day today! I passed the test, and just need to send in the paperwork to reinstate my PPL :old:clap:wee:celebrate.
I’m headed home now to see my chickens (and tell them I have my wings again) 😁
Congratulations Alex. I'm glad you have a clean bill of health now! :clap :clap :clap

@RoyalChick You do know I am
A) only joking; and 😜🤪
B) love living vicariously though y'all's stories and 'baby pictures'. :jumpy:jumpy Right??🥺
I say vicariously because I have such a large flock, that the individual attention that yours get is just not possible with my set-up. :(

1: I do not like this Hawk Attacks Situation at all… I realize I have missed something quite awful
2: Hattie is looking absolutely lovely
3: Can you in any way completely cover your yard from those predatory Feathered jerks? Like suspend hog panels 20+ feet up or something? You have too many hawks and it’s a pity that you can’t use something more permanent than the nerf gun… 😡 awful creatures…
I half jokingly talked about installing one of those Florida bug covers over the entire backyard to keep the hawks out.

I have thwarted many Hawk attacks in Decmeber before snow covered the ground. I have had a Cooper's Hawk actively hunting my yard. It has killed or run off nearly all of the song birds. I took down the bird feeders as well so I'm sure they stopped coming around because of that as well.

There was a tragic attack where my Candy Corn Polish pullet, Sylvie, was attacked and killed by the Cooper's Hawk. This led to Hattie losing her position as number 2 hen and sentinel of the tribe. I have since learned that crows will kill a sentinel that fails and allows a member of the flock to be killed by a predator. It seems chickens just demote them. Aurora is now number 2 hen. Hattie has not been the same since. She stays as close as possible to the coop complex and roosts early now.

Here is Sylvie

And here is video of the Cooper's Hawk hunting a sparrow in my trumpet vine. The same trumpet vine under which the girls thought they were safe.
