Frostbite
Yup. I am afraid it really is frostbite and a tad worse than I first thought. Still not too bad. I don’t see much swelling and she is very active and eating so hopefully the worst that will happen is she loses those two tips.
I feel bad because it shouldn’t happen and I should have known better.
I looked at all my endless photos of her and I am pretty sure it happened the night after she ran around in the rain and got wet. Although it wasn’t massively cold that night I probably should have brought her into the garage.
Poor Dotty. It may be the end of her modelling career.

I'm afraid you are right.

It probably was that night. She may not lose them but it does look like she will. She will still be gorgeous without them.

I used a treadle feeder for ages but the size I had was no good for the number of girls I now have. The commercial ones come with 3 different settings so it is easy to train the girls how to use it.

I am back to considering a treadle feeder because the pigeons are feasting on the pellets I put in the back porch. What the heck, I'll just go ahead and get one.

BY Bob's thread is better than "War and Peace". There are not enough chickens in "War and Peace."

Were there any at all? I recall crops and maybe drainage but not chickens but my capacity to recall details like that can only be described as poor at best.

Poppy is gone. I went out to let everyone loose this morning and while opening the door to the coop Poppy flew off the roost and crashed into the door. Thankfully it was quick and she was gone almost instantly although I'm shattered and been in tears all day.
