It is beautiful isn't it. I would be tempted to put a desk and chair in there so I could hang out with them. Maybe a bookshelf and a reading lamp!

@BY Bob While I whole-heartedly agree with your thoughts, as @RoyalChick DOES house her chickens like royalty, I think you forgot 1 teensy tiny thing: You need some mosquito netting or such to keep the big flying things out. Not so much that they are bad...but what they leave behind IS!💩💩💩 :lau

I have a problem with spelling sometimes. Words evade me! :lau:gig
Hmmm, since when have 'words evaded' you????!!!!!:gig:gig:gig

This chicken doesn't believe you, either:

Did I hear right? Chickens evade you??????

I need my pain meds, it's too much work to put my gear on to go to the house, 400' is way to far to go in the winter without really really really warm gear...

Oh do I owe more whining tax, darn!

Sorry to hear that it’s that difficult, and so hard on you to do those 400ft. (Think, the fresh eggs are worth the trip):hugs

Yesterday I took a little house building break, just did a little cleanup and prep for a big window and door day with help tomorow. I had my mom up and her attitude towards the space is much improved. I’m also at 90% precipitation exclusion, so horizontal house wrap is better than nothing for temporary roofing. I then took the goats for a good foraging walk as we are out of hay until I “borrow” some from the farm tonight… and Jimmy was absolutely gorging on cedar branches (it turns out the store that sells hay isn’t open on Mondays when DH did our supply run). I also attempted to climb a tree to get some rose hips for them, that didn’t work out well, but no serious injuries, and Arduinna took a shortcut home straight up the gully bank about 70 feet, dragging Jimmy and I along with her. I also did some trailer coop maintenance and hung out with the birds. It was a restful day.

Last night and this morning were mostly email writing, and I unloaded a trailer of nasty lumber onto our burn pile… it’s going to be a fun one when next we light that! DH and I are breaking for lunch and then off to finish up the vertical housewrap and do a little more window/door prep for tomorrow’s big day.

That looks very swish MJ. The soft close lid is a plus. Mine goes CLANG!!!! and I can hear it anywhere in the house and yard. At least I know the girls are using it, but so do the neighbours...🙄
Let's hope it really is as good as described on the website!

At least the clanging tells you they're nibbling away :) unless they're practising their percussion skills?

I am considering that and I think I will be doing it. I think it is a good idea. The problem is the coopers hawk can walk over on the ground after them but I think they would have a better chance running from it if they saw it coming.
Yes, I think so too. The drop from above is the main attack move and at the least the hens will have time to alarm and run if it gets tangled in a net. If you did two layers of net, it would be even more tangled, giving the hens time to run.
