I just giggled at the one lone tailfeather still hanging on!Not exactly a fluffy butt for Friday. But so exciting. Dotty has beautiful black tail feathers coming in.

Sorry, but I can’t take the heartbreak again. (Or raise any more chicks)Enabler!!!
Yup, I'm callin' you out!(hypocrite that I am, 'cause I was going to suggest he get them to grow up and be companions to his now-lone brown leghorn!)

They really are. She had two tail feathers but left one on the floor of the garage.I just giggled at the one lone tailfeather still hanging on!
Isn't it amazing just how much the color changes/fades from the sun over the course of a year. Those new feathers are very richly coloured in comparison!

We had emus running free here in Central PA.There are feral peacocks (edit: not turkeys, I was thinking of the store turkeys see follow up post) in my cousins neighborhood of Surrey BC, very loud at times… I often threaten to expand my poultry to include them… recently whenever the “awful pet goats” thing comes up I now start talking about Emus… someone on our little Island tried farming emus once, for meat. Apparently the catching and processing was quite the adventure… I even found a local supplier meat Duncan, only about 8 hours away round trip if I get lucky with the ferries…
Mine prefer pork...........They don’t like steak? Are you sure you have chickens? I swear sometimes I catch mine looking at the cows plotting how they could take one down. “Ok tribe, we may be small… but we have that beef outnumbered and surrounded… it’s just like the mouse steaks, only a little bigger”
Of this bunch, I can touch Hattie. She does not mind. Sydney and Aurora are no touch hens. You know, I was going to say "I just love those big girls' bottoms"...then I realized that that could get me a lawsuit & hate mail in the wider world,
It's a good thing they don't really take offense to us ogling...I think their motto is 'look, don't touch' (Right, @BY Bob?)
I’m surprised you can’t snuggle with SydneyOf this bunch, I can touch Hattie. She does not mind. Sydney and Aurora are no touch hens.
Because of they way in which the comb compartmentalizes to deal with frostbite, the risk of infection is almost nonexistent. If it did get infected it would not be anaerobic. I would with treat with a topical antibiotic like Neosporin. They should eventually turn black and drop off on their own. She should not be in any pain from it.Poor Dotty. She is definitely going to lose two tips. I am worried about the third but hopefully it is OK. I hope it isn’t too painful. It isn’t stopping her from getting her fair share of blueberries, shrimp tails and venison. One tip looks a bit swollen but I am not convinced it is infected.
@BY Bob if frostbite did get infected what antibiotic would I use? Would it be an anaerobe like gangrene is or a simple staph infection? Hoping I don’t need to do anything but want to be ready just in case.
Her our poor girl is behind Maggie having bagged a blueberry
