The chickens: “oh no daddy, chopped steak again for breakfast?”
Me: “Yes, steak again so what!”
The chickens: “:tongue
Me: “you total ingrates!”

I have mine lobster one day they were very grateful 😆

I remember many many years ago (like 35+ yrs ago haha), a friend and I bought a tin of escargot... They were horrible! So we threw them out to her chickens... They wouldn't eat them either hahaha! That was my introduction the chickens 🤗

Poor little guy. I am a big fan of spiders - they eat flies and other bugs. If I knew they ate ticks I would start a breeding program!
I both appreciate and am terrified of spiders. I am getting better, and generally relocate offending spiders in the house. I have been allowing the cellar spiders to freely breed and the colony is expanding from the bathroom through the trailer. But that one crossed the line, which is generally skin contact. That gets a swat, as will hanging at face height in the trailer or descending from the ceiling. I felt a little sorry, as the barn isn’t really my home, but it ran across my face! I’m living with at least a dozen spiders if not more in here. I sort of miss Hoppy and the “extra spicy” snacks. The big bodied garden spiders were her favourite, and when I would find them across a path I walked I would lift her up to eat them (to avoid bites and screaming and clothes tending moments when I forget there’s a quarter sized arachnid across a high traffic area!) also the chickens absolutely love them, especially the black widows, which are very pretty and usually I only encounter when moving lumber piles or feed pans outside.

My super tame spider eater in training was a casualty of the mink. Crossbeak. She was a special little chick and I had trained her to fly up to my arm and eat out of my hand as she had trouble eating. We were slowly correcting a severe crossbeak (I initially thought I might need to cull her, it was so bad) through careful trimming, filing, and she was even making progress on her own filing it down on rocks. She had a bit of a yawn, but we had gotten it mostly straightened and it realigned. I didn’t get many pictures, and they are all on my last phone still.

Best escargot is a French import. Best wine is from Napa Valley CA. (Beat out the Italian wineries) :old

They can be. Someone in the area had some. They've moved, but while they were here, the guineas sounded quite eerie. Peafowl also sound strange, but should grace your royal palace too.
There are feral peacocks (edit: not turkeys, I was thinking of the store turkeys see follow up post) in my cousins neighborhood of Surrey BC, very loud at times… I often threaten to expand my poultry to include them… recently whenever the “awful pet goats” thing comes up I now start talking about Emus… someone on our little Island tried farming emus once, for meat. Apparently the catching and processing was quite the adventure… I even found a local supplier meat Duncan, only about 8 hours away round trip if I get lucky with the ferries…

They don’t like steak? Are you sure you have chickens? I swear sometimes I catch mine looking at the cows plotting how they could take one down. “Ok tribe, we may be small… but we have that beef outnumbered and surrounded… it’s just like the mouse steaks, only a little bigger”

I respect spiders but I do not like them. They are not permitted inside. If they are outside I leave them alone unless they land on me. Then they can't die fast enough.

Spider tax.

I was thinking about that with @featherhead007's post - why bother 'chopping' their steak? I am confident in their ability to tear it to pieces on their own. Mine get venison today.
