I both appreciate and am terrified of spiders. I am getting better, and generally relocate offending spiders in the house. I have been allowing the cellar spiders to freely breed and the colony is expanding from the bathroom through the trailer. But that one crossed the line, which is generally skin contact. That gets a swat, as will hanging at face height in the trailer or descending from the ceiling. I felt a little sorry, as the barn isn’t really my home, but it ran across my face! I’m living with at least a dozen spiders if not more in here. I sort of miss Hoppy and the “extra spicy” snacks. The big bodied garden spiders were her favourite, and when I would find them across a path I walked I would lift her up to eat them (to avoid bites and screaming and clothes tending moments when I forget there’s a quarter sized arachnid across a high traffic area!) also the chickens absolutely love them, especially the black widows, which are very pretty and usually I only encounter when moving lumber piles or feed pans outside.
My super tame spider eater in training was a casualty of the mink. Crossbeak. She was a special little chick and I had trained her to fly up to my arm and eat out of my hand as she had trouble eating. We were slowly correcting a severe crossbeak (I initially thought I might need to cull her, it was so bad) through careful trimming, filing, and she was even making progress on her own filing it down on rocks. She had a bit of a yawn, but we had gotten it mostly straightened and it realigned. I didn’t get many pictures, and they are all on my last phone still.
