Yes. That is the raccoon. It is why they are such difficult predators because they have clever hands and can open all sorts of latches and catches.
But I think there are two other animals besides the raccoons who left prints. Three if you count me.

Let me look closer.

More or less. Her comb is very pale but she's stopped laying. Hasn't laid in nearly a year. Whatever the issue was seems to be slowly sorting itself out.

That's right. I'm a little dense sometimes.

Her bum is fine physically. No ulcerations to be seen.

However, it was a real mess and I just cleaned her bum last night. I had to use water to get it all out so she spent the night inside drying off.

I need to get a fresh sample and test it.

We did enjoy watching the Olympics together. She likes ice dancing.

Something is Up with Lilly

Check out what she is doing. Part of the time she is a normal chicken and then she just stops and sits like this. She was free ranging like normal a minute before she sat down here.

I am concerned to say the least but she is not leaving her friends and going to roost like Hattie. I will give her tonight but I may need to act tomorrow.

What concerns me is what appears to be heavy breathing. Seems a lot more motion in the back end than would be normal for just free-ranging. Comb color good, and always good or changing? Does her belly feel normal?

I forgot to post these the other day when we were weighing in on footprints in the snow.
It turns out I was not the only creature that sank into the mud on the day it all (temporarily) thawed.
This is right up against the walk of the Chicken Palace.
I posted three pictures in case one reveals something the others don’t.
How many creatures and what are they. I think I know all but one.

Okay, I'm going out on a limb here:
1)Muscrat or raccoon (can't tell if the front paw print extends down enough for a raccoon - too many philanges for an opossum) But I think 2 of these, whatever they are.

2) Fox
3) Some sort of bird (toes on some look too short to be chicken.)
4) Looks like at least one set of your hen tracks.

I really wanted it to be an opossum, as you mentioned fruit thieving wildlife, and 'possums are notorious for that. Much rather an opossum around than a raccoon, any day!
